Kick Off #1: Beyond the Handshake

MISA’s first kickoff event of the semester was a Networking Workshop, designed to help members strengthen their professional communication skills in a supportive and interactive environment. Members were divided into small groups, where they rotated through different prompts and scenarios to practice initiating and carrying conversations. This format encouraged everyone to actively participate, ask thoughtful questions, and share personal insights while receiving guidance and feedback from the E-Board. By engaging with both the E-Board and their peers, members gained valuable practice in building confidence, improving their networking etiquette, and forming stronger connections within the organization.

Kick Off #2: A Night with MISA

Members gathered for A Night with MISA, an evening filled with fun, energy, and community building. The event gave everyone the chance to connect with the Executive Board and one another in a relaxed and engaging setting. Attendees participated in exciting games like dodgeball and relay races, sparking friendly competition and plenty of laughter. Beyond the activities, the night encouraged teamwork, strengthened bonds within the organization, and showcased the vibrant spirit of MISA.

Careers in Tech

MISA hosted an exciting event featuring three distinguished guest speakers from Apple, NVIDIA, and Netflix. The program began with a panel-style Q&A, where the speakers answered questions and shared valuable insights about their career journeys, industry experiences, and professional advice. Following the panel, the speakers rotated between small groups, giving members the opportunity to have more personal conversations and ask their own questions. The evening concluded with an open networking session, allowing members to build connections with the speakers.

LinkedIn Workshop

MISA hosted a LinkedIn workshop featuring guest speaker Gerhard, who shared practical tips on optimizing LinkedIn profiles and standing out to recruiters. Members had the opportunity to explore the platform’s job search feature, gain insights on tailoring their profiles for career goals, and practice crafting a strong “About” section. The workshop equipped students with actionable strategies to strengthen their professional presence online and better prepare for future career opportunities.

MISA Showdown

MISA held a social event inspired by the popular game show Family Feud, where members formed groups and competed against each other in a fun, interactive setting. The event encouraged teamwork, friendly competition, and community building, giving members the chance to bond, laugh, and connect outside of an academic environment.

Intern Roundtable

MISA hosted an engaging Intern Roundtable event featuring interns from top companies such as Oracle, Amazon, and Tesla, among others. The event provided members with an opportunity to hear firsthand experiences from students who have successfully navigated the internship process. Interns went around answering questions, sharing valuable insights about their roles, and offering practical advice on everything from resume building and interview preparation to networking and workplace success. Members gained a deeper understanding of what it’s like to work in different industries, learned how to make the most of internship opportunities, and received tips on standing out as candidates. The event fostered an open and collaborative environment where attendees could connect, ask questions, and be inspired by their peers’ achievements.

Excel Workshop

MISA hosted an interactive Excel Workshop designed to help members strengthen their technical and analytical skills. Participants learned how to use essential Excel tools such as Pivot Charts, data visualization techniques, and basic functions to organize and analyze data effectively. The session ended with an exciting “Excel Olympics,” where teams competed to solve real-world Excel challenges. The competition encouraged teamwork, problem-solving, and quick thinking, with the first team to submit the correct solution taking home the win.

Minute to Win It!

MISA hosted a lively social event where members teamed up to compete in a series of fun music-themed challenges. The activities included Finish the Lyric, Guess the Song Based on Emojis, and an exciting Lip Sync Battle. The friendly competition brought lots of laughter, energy, and great performances, making it a memorable and entertaining night for everyone involved
