Kick Off #1: Career Storytelling Workshop

MISA hosted an interactive professional development workshop focused on resumes, networking, and interviewing. Members learned how to create a strong professional narrative by highlighting their accomplishments, tailoring their resumes, and showing recruiters the value they can bring to a company. The workshop also covered networking strategies, including how to approach conversations with recruiters, ask thoughtful questions, and build genuine connections.

A major part of the session focused on elevator pitches. Members learned how to clearly explain their role, strengths, experience, and what they are currently looking for. They then wrote and practiced their own elevator pitches before sharing them with their groups and receiving feedback. The workshop also introduced interview frameworks such as the STAR method and the Google XYZ formula, which can help members communicate their experiences more effectively. Through the different activities and group exercises, attendees gained practical advice and more confidence when preparing for career fairs, networking opportunities, and future interviews.
