"I decided to join MISA because I wanted to explore how I could integrate technology into my major, Corporate Accounting and Finance. Being part of MISA has helped me academically by exposing me to new tools and resources, as well as professionally by giving me opportunities to connect with industry leaders and expand my network. It has also allowed me to grow as a leader, first as VP of Events and now as President. One of my favorite memories was organizing our end-of-semester banquets, where we celebrated our members' achievements and brought everyone together in a meaningful way. That experience showed me the impact MISA has on creating lasting connections. To anyone considering joining, I would say MISA is more than just a club, it’s a community that helps you develop both personally and professionally. "I still remember walking down 7th Street and stopping by the MISA table — I went up, talked to the officers, and ended up joining the club on the spot. Looking back, it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made at SJSU. What started as a casual conversation turned into an experience that’s helped me grow as a leader, gain confidence, and meet some of the most inspiring people I know. One of my favorite memories was when my committee and I sold donuts on campus — someone challenged me to eat a whole dozen, and I almost made it... and then Tarun stepped in and helped me finish four of them. We were laughing the entire time, and it’s still one of those moments I’ll never forget. For anyone considering joining, I’d say don’t think twice, MISA is more than just a club; it’s a community that pushes you to grow while having fun along the way. "Coming in as a first year I was encouraged by a couple friends from my grade to check the club out. Being part of MISA has been incredibly rewarding both academically and professionally. It’s given me countless networking opportunities whether through meeting industry professionals at events or connecting with peers who share similar career goals. I’ve built strong friendships that make collaboration and learning more enjoyable, and I’ve also gained valuable resume-building experience by helping with fundraising initiatives that strengthened my leadership and organizational skills. Through workshops and guest speaker events, I’ve learned about different career paths in tech and business, improved my understanding of tools like SQL and Tableau, and developed stronger teamwork and leadership skills by collaborating on club projects. My favorite memory in MISA so far has been working with other members during our fundraising events. "Coming into college, I was eager to find organizations that would help me grow both professionally and creatively within the business field. One of MISA’s events, “Ace the Interview,” immediately caught my attention because it provided practical guidance on communication and interviewing skills. After attending, I felt inspired by how much I could learn and improve through this club, so I applied to the Marketing Committee right away. Marketing has always been something I’m passionate about, especially the creative side of designing flyers, managing social media, and bringing ideas to life. Being part of MISA has helped me build confidence in professional communication through networking with guest speakers and recruiters while also strengthening my leadership and project management skills as VP of Marketing. "I joined MISA mainly because I wanted to find a community on campus , somewhere to actually meet new people and grow professionally. I didn’t really know much about tech at first, but once I started going to our events and talking to guest speakers, I gained a lot more confidence in navigating professional conversations and figuring out what field was right for me. Now I can confidently say I want to work in data analytics, which is something I wouldn’t have discovered without MISA. As VP of Professional Development, I’ve had to speak in front of rooms full of people (which used to terrify me), but it’s made me much more confident and comfortable leading and teaching others. My favorite memory has to be our first social of the year when we played dodgeball on the lawn. I’m super competitive, so it was the perfect way to meet everyone in my true form. To anyone thinking about joining, don’t overthink it , and don’t get intimidated by the name “Management Information Systems.” MISA is for anyone who wants to grow, meet great people, and actually have fun while doing it!"
