MISA Alumni

"Being part of MISA at SJSU was one of the most defining experiences of my undergraduate journey. I had the privilege of serving as President, where I led a board of over 10 students and worked to create meaningful opportunities for our members to connect with Silicon Valley professionals. Some of the most meaningful moments for me were launching the Women in Tech mentorship program and hosting Women in Tech panels, which created space for honest conversations, mentorship, and confidence-building for students navigating careers in technology.

What stands out most to me is the sense of community. MISA gave me lifelong friendships, mentors who believed in me, and the confidence to pursue opportunities in tech and leadership. The skills I built there continue to shape my career today, from consulting at EY to product management and now my MBA at UCLA Anderson.

I wholeheartedly encourage students to join MISA. If you lean in, take initiative, and build relationships, it can truly be a transformative experience that shapes not just your career, but your confidence and sense of belonging in tech."

Joining MISA at SJSU changed the trajectory of my life. What started as a student organization quickly became the community that shaped my confidence, my ambition, and my vision for what was possible.

Through MISA’s career events and alumni panels, Silicon Valley stopped feeling intimidating and started feeling within reach. I met professionals who once sat in the same classrooms, faced the same uncertainties, and built incredible careers. For the first time, I could truly see myself in their shoes.

MISA didn’t just prepare me academically — it gave me belief. That belief led me to secure my internship at Cavium, Inc. through the club, an opportunity that became the foundation of my professional journey. The mentorship, technical growth, and encouragement I found in MISA continue to influence my work today at the Toyota Research Institute.

To every student considering getting involved: lean in fully. Show up. Ask questions. Build relationships. MISA is more than a club — it’s a community that will challenge you, support you, and help you discover what you’re capable of becoming.
